Like most video games, playing Rocket League requires a little suspension of disbelief. While cars could *theoretically* bat a ball around for a while, they’re not nimble enough to be able to do so with any speed or accuracy — not to mention the fact that, when cars flip over in real life, the people in them die. Might ruin a game!

As it turns out, however, this is a real sport, and it has been since the ‘30s. The sport is called “autoball,” and it involves playing soccer with a massive ball using two cars. As you can see, it frequently has mixed results.
