No one *really* knows how to handle hitting a deer in the road. Some say to speed up; others say to brake and try to avoid them.

Understandably, neither of these options are particularly good for the deer. Despite being hit by cars for literal generations of their lives, deer still haven’t developed the trait of “learning not to run in front of cars.” And so, us humans are condemned to continue hitting them (and, occasionally, accidentally launching them into orbit).
