When one pregnant school administrator nearing her due date started having some trouble, she went to her boss for help. As someone perfectly able to do her job from home, she assumed her boss would understand, and allow her to work productively from there as she so often did. 

Instead, despite the administrator sporting an injured foot and other discomforts as a result of the pregnancy, the boss told her to stay in person. "I understand you need to do what's best for you, but you need to understand that I need to do what's best for the team," she said. 

She also encouraged her employee to go talk to HR about leave options if she was so upset. "I immediately went to HR and did just that," the administrator wrote. Lo and behold, HR granted her paid leave in addition to her upcoming maternity leave. Instead of working from home, the boss was left covering completely.
